                            About Expo 2009
Expo 2009 will provide schoolchildren with learning and participation opportunities in the outdoors. Events at the expo will be linked to specific areas of academic achievement including science, mathematics, history and physical education. The Expo 2009 will also teach outdoor skills, encourage ethical behavior and perpetuate Wisconsin's hunting, fishing, and conservation heritage.
At least seven camps each dedicated to one general area of interest where kids will be able to learn about and participate in outdoor activities: Fishing, Camping and Trail Recreation, Wildlife Trails, Conservation Heritage, Archery, Firearm Safety, and Sporting Dogs.
Each camp has many different activities for the student’s to experience. The classroom teacher, as the curriculum diagnostician for his/her students selects the activities in which the students participate.
The Teacher's Guide is designed as a supplement to the activities found at the Wisconsin Outdoor Education Expo. Many activities and materials are designed for the teacher to do in the classroom as a pre-test and post-test follow-up to the EXPO.

                           Today's Situation
Why is the Expo important? Children who aren’t active in the
outdoors by the age of 12, are less likely to be outdoor
enthusiasts as adults. Too much TV, movies, and video games
is leading the generations into unhealthy and un-active adults.

The very future of our Wisconsin outdoor legacy is at stake.
Protecting our lakes, streams, woods and wildlife has been
dependent upon the vigilance and active stewardship of
generations going back to the first native tribes.

Therefore, it is our responsibility to mentor the next
generation of anglers, hunters, campers and conservationists.
That’s why the Expo allows kids large and small, old and young
to sample a little bit of everything that Wisconsin has to offer
in the great outdoors.
